Essien Udim Towns And Villages
Essien Udim is a Local Government Area in central Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, home to Annang-speaking communities. Its council seat is Afaha Ikot Ebak, and the LGA covers about 298 square kilometres.
The 2006 census counted 193,257 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 246,600. Essien Udim groups eight clans – Adiasim, Afaha, Ekpeyong Atai, Ikpe Annang, Odoro Ikot, Okon, Ukana and Ukana East – into eleven electoral wards.
Farmers here grow oil palm, cassava and rubber, and fish the LGA’s streams and feeders. Federal Polytechnic Ukana and Topfaith University sit within the area, and traders gather at the Obo Annang market. Hon. Ntiedo Usoro has chaired the council since October 2024.
