Makoda Towns And Villages

Makoda is a Local Government Area in Kano State, Nigeria, about 55 kilometres north-west of Kano city. Its headquarters sits at Koguna, not at Makoda town itself. The LGA has an area of 441 km2.

The 2006 census recorded a population of 220,094. A 2022 projection put the figure near 362,000. Makoda holds 11 wards: Babbar Riga, Durma, Jibga, Kadandani, Koguna, Koren Tabo, Maitsidau, Makoda, Satame, Tangaji and Wailare.

Farmers here grow rice, tomatoes and cassava, and keep livestock; Sabon Ruwa’s central market anchors local trade. Makoda was carved out of Danbatta Local Government Area and still borders it within Kano State, and the LGA also reaches the Jigawa and Katsina state lines.
