Karaye Towns And Villages
Karaye is a Local Government Area in Kano State, Nigeria, and seat of the Karaye Emirate Council. Its headquarters sits at Karaye town, about 90 kilometres southwest of Kano city.
The 2006 census counted 144,045 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 236,900. The LGA covers about 479 square kilometres.
Karaye holds ten wards: Daura, Kafin Dafga, Karaye, Kurugu, Kwanyawa, Tudun Kaya, Turawa, Unguwar Hajji, Yammedi and Yola. The Challawa Gorge Dam sits within the LGA, holding back the Challawa River, a tributary of the Kano River.
