Kano Municipal Towns And Villages
Kano Municipal is a Local Government Area at the historic core of Kano city, Kano State, Nigeria. Its headquarters sits at Kofar Kudu, the western entrance to the traditional ruler’s residence. The area covers about 17 square kilometres, the smallest LGA in the state.
The 2006 census recorded a population of 371,243 across the LGA’s 13 wards. Citypopulation.de’s 2022 projection puts the total near 610,600.
Kano Municipal holds 13 wards: Chedi, Dan’Agundi, Gandun Albasa, Jakara, Kankarofi, Shahuchi, Sharada, Sheshe, Tudun Nufawa, Tudun Wazirchi, Yakasai, Zaitawa and Zango. These are the old walled city’s own quarters, separate from the several other small metro LGAs that share the wider Kano urban area.
