Onitsha North Towns And Villages
Onitsha North is one of two Local Government Areas that make up the city of Onitsha, in Anambra State’s Anambra Central senatorial district. Together with Onitsha South it holds the Niger River’s east-bank trading hub, including Onitsha Main Market, one of West Africa’s largest markets. The LGA is organised into 15 INEC registration wards, running from the old colonial core at American Quarters and G.R.A. through the dense residential blocks of Inland Town to the river-facing Waterside and Trans-Nkisi districts.
The 2006 census counted 125,918 residents; the 2022 projection put the LGA at 179,400. Onitsha North borders Ogbaru to the south, Idemili North and Oyi to the east, and Anambra East to the north.
