Ogbaru Towns And Villages

Ogbaru is a Local Government Area in Anambra State, Nigeria, on the east bank of the Niger River roughly 25 kilometres south of Onitsha. Its headquarters sits at Atani. The area covers about 387.7 square kilometres, centred near 6.02°N, 6.74°E.

The 2006 census counted 223,317 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 318,200. Ogbaru holds sixteen wards, including Atani I, Atani II and six Okpoko wards (I–VI) around the LGA’s largest urban settlement. Ogbaru people farm and fish the Niger floodplain, and share clan ties with the Onitsha, Oguta, Anioma and Ndoni peoples across the Delta and Rivers State borders.
