Ayamelum Towns And Villages

Ayamelum is a Local Government Area in Anambra State, Nigeria, on the boundary with Enugu State. Its headquarters is at Anaku, and the LGA covers about 538 square kilometres.

The 2006 census counted 158,152 residents; the 2022 projection put the figure near 225,400. Ayamelum holds eleven wards: Anaku, Ifite Ogwari I, Ifite Ogwari II, Igbakwu, Omasi, Omor I, Omor II, Omor III, Umu Elum, Umueje and Umumbo.

Anaku, Ifite Ogwari, Omor and Umumbo are Anambra’s main rice-growing towns, irrigated by the Lower Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority. The Nnamdi Azikiwe University Faculty of Agriculture sits at Ifite Ogwari. Postal codes across the LGA run from 433108 to 433115, one per ward.
