Ushongo Towns And Villages
Ushongo is a Local Government Area in Benue State, Nigeria. Its headquarters sits at Lessel. The area covers about 1,228 square kilometres and splits into five traditional districts: Ushongo, Mbagba, Utange, Mbaikyaa and Ikov. Buruku LGA lies to its east.
The 2006 census counted 191,935 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 277,100. Ushongo holds eleven wards: Atikyese, Ikyov, Lessel, Mbaaka, Mbaanyam, Mbagwe, Mbagba, Mbagwaza, Mbakuha, Mbayegh and Utange.
The Tiv people farm citrus and mangoes across Ushongo’s hills and valleys; the LGA produces more citrus fruit than any other in Benue State.
