Apa Towns And Villages
Apa is a Local Government Area in Benue State, Nigeria, bordered by Agatu to the north, Gwer West to the east, Otukpo to the south and Omala in Kogi State to the west. Its headquarters sits at Ugbokpo, northwest of Makurdi, the state capital.
The council was created on March 23, 1981, dissolved on 31 December 1983, and re-established in August 1991. The 2006 census counted 96,780 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 139,700. Apa holds eleven wards: Akpete/Ojantelle, Auke, Edikwu I, Edikwu II, Igah-Okpaya, Igoro, Ikobi, Oba, Ofoke, Oiji and Ugbokpo.
The area’s postal code is 972107. Idoma farmers and traders make up most of the population, alongside Igala and other settler communities. Farmers grow yams, cassava, maize, guinea corn and melons across the area.
