Okpokwu Towns And Villages

Okpokwu is a Local Government Area in Benue State, Nigeria, home to Idoma-speaking communities in the state’s south. Its headquarters sits at Okpoga. Benue State Polytechnic is located at Ugbokolo, within the LGA.

The 2006 census counted 175,596 residents, projected to about 253,500 by 2022. The area covers 731 square kilometres. Okpoga’s postal code is 973101.

Okpokwu holds twelve wards grouped into three traditional Idoma districts: Okpoga, Ichama and Edumoga. Ado and Ogbadibo LGAs were carved out of the old Okpokwu area in later years and are separate local governments today.
