Guma Towns And Villages
Guma is a Local Government Area in Benue State’s North-West senatorial district, Nigeria. Its headquarters sits at Gbajimba, on the Benue River roughly 37 kilometres north of Makurdi.
The 2006 census counted 194,164 residents across 2,882 square kilometres. Projections put the 2022 figure near 280,300. The postal code is 970.
Guma is Tiv country, organised into ten wards: Abinsi, Kaambe, Mbabai, Mbadwem, Mbawa, Mbayer/Yandev, Nyiev, Nzorov, Saghev and Uvir. Years of herder-farmer violence have displaced tens of thousands of residents from Daudu, Yelewata and other axis communities since 2023, and camps at Daudu and Gbajimba still hold large numbers of the displaced.
