Makurdi Towns And Villages
Makurdi is the capital of Benue State, in Nigeria’s Middle Belt. The town sits on the Benue River’s south bank, linked to North Bank by the Niger Bridge. The local government area covers about 937.4 square kilometres and reaches well beyond the city into farming communities along the river.
The 2006 census recorded 300,377 residents in Makurdi LGA; the 2022 projection put the figure near 433,700. Rural settlements outside the city carry postal code 970101, separate from the GRA, Wadata and Wurukum zones in the urban core.
