Agatu Towns And Villages
Agatu is a Local Government Area in Benue State, Nigeria, in the Idoma-majority Benue South senatorial zone. Its headquarters is Obagaji, on the Benue River. The 2006 census counted 115,597 people; the 2022 projection puts the population at 166,900.
Agatu was carved from the old Otukpo division in 1996. It has ten wards: Egba, Enungba, Obagaji, Odugbeho, Ogbaulu, Ogwule-Kaduna, Ogwule Ogbaulu, Okokolo, Oshigbudu and Usha. Farming and river fishing drive the local economy; yam, rice, cassava and soybeans are the main crops. Melvin Ejeh chairs the local government. The postal code for the area is 972108.
