Taura Towns And Villages
Taura is a Local Government Area in Jigawa State, north-western Nigeria, on the Hadejia-Jamaare flood-plain. Its headquarters is Taura town. The area covers about 653 square kilometres and borders Garki to the north, Gagarawa to the east, Jahun to the south and Ringim to the west.
The 2006 census counted 131,861 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 226,700. Taura holds ten wards: Ajaura, Chakwaikwaiwa, Chukuto, Gujungu, Kiri, Kwalam, Maje, Majiya, Sabon Gari Yaya and Taura.
Hausa-Fulani communities farm millet, sorghum, rice, groundnuts and onions across the LGA, with fadama irrigation along the Hadejia river supporting dry-season vegetable growing.
