Oredo Towns And Villages
Oredo is a Local Government Area in Edo State, Nigeria, and covers Benin City’s historic core. Its headquarters sits at Ogbe, near the Oba of Benin’s palace. The area covers about 249 square kilometres.
The 2006 census counted 374,515 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 553,300. Oredo holds twelve wards: Ogbe, GRA/Etete, Uzebu, Urubi/Evbiemwen/Iwehen, Ihogbe/Isekhere/Ore-Oghene/Ibiwe, New Benin I, New Benin II, Oredo, Ikpema/Eguadase, Unueru/Ogboka, Ogbelaka/Nekpenekpen and Ibiwe/Iwegie/Ugbague.
Bini traders and craftsmen fill the quarters around the Oba’s palace, Ring Road and New Benin market. Oredo borders Egor to the north and Ikpoba-Okha to the east within Edo State.
