The Niger River forms the LGA’s southern border from Lake Jebba to the Kaduna River confluence. The LGA is bordered by Kwara and Kogi states. Gana to Jebba in Kwara State is where the A1 motorway crosses the Niger.
Mokwa is a Nupe kingdom governed by the Ndalile (now Lile Shaba Aliyu) and includes Muwo, Bokani, Kudu, Kpaki, Jebba, Rabba, Ja’agi, and others. Mokwa is ruled by an emir named Ndalile.
The town is noted for making hoes, cutlasses, and melon. Mokwa celebrates sallah.
