Lapai is a Local Government Area next to the Federal Capital Territory in the Nigerian state of Niger. Its headquarters are located at 9°03′00′′N 6°34′00′′E in the town of Lapai on the A124 motorway in the west of the region.
As of the 2006 census, it had a land area of 3,051 km2 and a population of 110,127. The region is approximately contiguous with the Lapai Emirate.
