The Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria termed portion of what is now Delta State “Warri Province.” [4] Sapele was in the northeast, Forçados River in the south-east, and Jameson Creek in the south-west.
Warri is a petroleum centre in southern Nigeria.

Temperatures range from 28 to 32 degrees Celsius. The area is mostly rainforest and swampland. Timber, palm, and fruit trees are abundant.
Most multinational and local oil businesses operating in Nigeria have headquarters near Warri Refinery and Petrochemicals in Ekpan. Warri’s Ugbuwangue is an important seaport.
Most oil firms evacuated the town and surrounding areas due to violence in the late 1990s and 1999.
Warri is garrisoned by the Amphibious Infantry battalion (Effurun Army Base) located in Effurun, a [twin city] to Warri and is administratively under the Brigade HQ in Port Harcourt.
Warri houses the Nigerian Navy.
The 61 Nigerian Air Force Detachment operates at Jeddo, near Warri.
