Anambra West Towns And Villages

Anambra West is a Local Government Area in Anambra State, Nigeria, on the west bank of the River Niger. Its headquarters sits at Nzam. The area covers about 584 square kilometres.

The 2006 census counted 167,303 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 238,400. The LGA holds ten wards: Ezi-Anam, Ifite-Anam, Nzam, Olumbanasa-Ode, Olumbanasa-Inoma, Oroma Etiti-Anam, Umuenwelum-Anam, Umueze-Anam I, Umueze-Anam II and Umuoba-Anam.

The Anam people live here, split between the Ifite Anam division on the eastern peninsula and Ezi Anam to the west. Farming and fishing along the Niger and the Anambra (Omambala) rivers anchor the local economy, and the low-lying land floods every rainy season.
