Ohaji/Egbema Towns And Villages
Ohaji/Egbema is a Local Government Area in Imo State, Nigeria, in the state’s oil-producing south-west. Its headquarters sits at Mmahu-Egbema. The 2006 census counted 182,891 residents; a 2022 projection put the figure near 254,200.
The council was created by Ibrahim Babangida’s military government by presidential proclamation on August 27, 1991. Crude oil and gas facilities run through the area alongside farming and fishing along the Niger and Otamiri rivers; rubber and oil-palm estates, including Adapalm, are long-standing local employers. Ohaji/Egbema borders Oguta LGA and Owerri West within Imo, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni across the state line in Rivers State.
