Obowo Local Government Area hosts “Iwa Akwa Festival.” Ekpo, Mbomuzo, and Egbe-Nkwu are nearby events. Obowo LGA has tourism attractions. Green-colored Abadaba Lake in Okwuohia Autonomous Community, Iyi-Ukwu, and Umuariam Game Reserve Center with real monkeys.

The former Ibrahim Babangida Administration created Obowo LGA in May 1989.

Formerly part of Isi-Local Nweke’s Government Etiti.  22 independent communities live there.

Obowo’s economy, once built on farming and fishing, now includes industry and communications.

Obowo manufacture palm oil, kernel, baskets, brooms, and rice.
