Oguta Towns And Villages

Oguta is a Local Government Area in Imo State, Nigeria, on the eastern shore of Oguta Lake. Its headquarters sits at Oguta town, roughly 45 kilometres northwest of Owerri. It borders Ohaji/Egbema to the south and Oru East and Oru West to the east, with Anambra, Delta and Rivers states across the Niger.

The 2006 census counted 142,340 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 197,900. Oguta sits at 5°42′42″N 6°48′34″E. Igbo is the everyday language; the area is one of Imo’s oil-producing zones, hosting AGIP, Shell and Chevron operations along the lake and its creeks. The LGA has 11 registration wards: Awa, Egwe/Egbuoma, Izombe, Mbala/Uba, Ndeuloukwu/Umuowere, Obudi/Aro, Oguta ‘A’, Oguta ‘B’, Oru, Ossemotor/Enuigbo and Uwaorie.
