Giwa Local Government Area is a Local Government Area in the Nigerian state of Kaduna. Its headquarters are located in Giwa. Abubakar Lawal preside over the Government Council.
General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida GCFR, the then-president and Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, established it on 15 September 1991 from the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
It has an area of 2,066 km2 and, as of the 2006 census, a population of 286,427.
