Agatu is a Local Government Area in the state of Benue, in the north-central region of Nigeria. It was born in 1996.
It was formerly the Agatu district of the previous Otukpo division. The local government is headquartered at Obagaji; it is one of nine local government areas in the southern senatorial zone of Benue State, which is predominantly inhabited by the Idoma people. The majority of residents are farmers.
