Umunneochi Towns And Villages

Umunneochi (also written Umu-Nneochi) is a Local Government Area in Abia State, Nigeria. It is Abia’s northernmost LGA, bordering Isuikwuato LGA and both Enugu and Ebonyi states. The headquarters sits at Nkwoagu, in the Isuochi area.

Umunneochi recorded 163,928 people at the 2006 census, spread across 368 square kilometres.

The LGA’s postal code is 441, with individual districts numbered 441109 to 441112. Chief Sunny Afurobi is the current Mayor of Umunneochi Local Government.

The LGA groups three traditional septs: Umuchieze, Nneato and Isuochi. Farming, granite and laterite mining, and trade drive the local economy. Cassava, yam, cocoyam and black beans are the main crops. Lokpanta hosts Nigeria’s largest cattle market.
