Ikwuano is a Local Government Area in Abia State’s Central Senatorial District. Its headquarters sits at Isiala Oboro, near Umudike, home to Michael Okpara University of Agriculture.
The 2006 census counted 137,897 people; citypopulation.de projects 200,800 for 2022. Ikwuano covers 281 square kilometres and carries postal code 440109.
Four clans make up the LGA: Oboro, Ibere, Ariam/Usaka and Oloko. Ikwuano borders Umuahia North and Bende to the north, Umuahia South and Isiala Ngwa North to the west, and Akwa Ibom State’s Ini and Obot Akara council areas to the east and south.
