Isiala Ngwa North is a Local Government Area in Abia State, Nigeria, with its headquarters at Okpuala-Ngwa.

It borders Ikwuano and Umuahia South to the north and Isiala Ngwa South to the south, covering about 283 square kilometres.

The 2006 census counted 154,083 people; the National Bureau of Statistics projected about 224,400 residents by 2022.

Okpuala-Ngwa’s postal code is 451101; the LGA’s other communities carry codes from 451102 to 451107.

Farming and trade drive the local economy, centred on the Ariaria and Ahiaeketa markets. Isiala Ngwa North is the birthplace of Jaja Wachuku, Nigeria’s first indigenous Speaker of the House of Representatives, and former Central Bank Governor Paul Ogwuma.
