Bende borders Ebonyi State’s Afikpo and Ohaozara council areas to the north, Arochukwu and Ohafia LGAs to the south, and Ikwuano and Umuahia LGAs to the east and west. Agriculture, especially rice, is the leading occupation, and Uzuakoli was once home to a Methodist mission and leprosy settlement founded in 1927.
