Takum is a Local Government Area in Nigeria’s Taraba State. Its headquarters are located in the town of Takum at 7°16′00′′N 9°59′00′′E. It was formed in June 1976 from the Wukari local government. South of Takum is the Republic of Cameroon, while to the west is Ussa Local Government.

The major tribes are Kuteb, Kpanzon, and Hausa, and Takum is governed by the Ukwe Takum.

As of the 2006 census, it had a land area of 2,503 km2 and a population of 135,349 people.
