Hawul Towns And Villages
Hawul is a Local Government Area in southern Borno State, one of four LGAs that make up the Biu Emirate alongside Biu, Bayo and Kwaya Kusar. Its headquarters sits at Azare, in Kwajjafa district.
The 2006 census counted 120,733 people across Hawul’s 2,098 km²; the 2022 projection puts the figure at 176,900. The area’s main postal code is 603106, with Sakwa (603105) and Kwaya Bura (603112) carrying their own district codes. Hon. Yusuf Mamman Msheliza serves as Executive Chairman.
Hawul groups its settlements into three traditional districts — Sakwa, Kwajjafa and Kwaya Bura — matching the LGA’s twelve INEC wards. Below is the list of towns and villages, checked against INEC’s 2015 polling-unit directory, GeoNames, OSM and GRID3 records; 45 further settlements confirmed by two or more independent sources but not yet mapped to a specific district appear in a fourth section.
