Abadam Towns And Villages
Abadam is a Local Government Area in Borno State, Nigeria, on the western shore of Lake Chad. Its headquarters is Mallam Fatori, close to the Komadougou Yobe river and the borders with Niger and Chad. The area covers about 3,989 square kilometres.
The 2006 census counted 100,065 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 146,600. Abadam holds ten wards, among them Arege, Banowa, Kudokurgu, Yau and Yawa Kura. Kanuri and Shuwa Arab communities form the majority. Mallam Fatori has hosted a military Super Camp since the mid-2010s amid Boko Haram and ISWAP activity along the Lake Chad shoreline, and the conflict has displaced residents across the LGA in that period.
