Okene Towns And Villages

Okene is an Ebira-heartland LGA in Kogi State, centred on Okene town, the state’s second-largest urban centre after Lokoja. The 2006 census recorded 325,623 people; the 2022 projection put the LGA at 438,900.

Okene town splits into eleven wards — Bariki, Obessa, Onyukoko, Idoji, Orietesu, Otutu, Okene-Eba/Agassa/Ahache, Obehira Uvetta, Obehira Eba, Abuga/Ozuja and Upogoro/Odenku — each holding named quarters and a handful of farm settlements on the town’s edge.
