This made it the second-least populated county in Vermont.

Its county seat, or shire town, is North Hero.

The county was made in 1802, and it was put together in 1805.

Grand Isle County is in the area around Burlington, which is a major city.

The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county covers 195 square miles (510 km2), 82 square miles (210 km2) of which are land and 113 square miles (290 km2) of which are water, or 58%.
