Oji River Towns And Villages
Oji River is a Local Government Area in southern Enugu State, Nigeria, built around six wards: Achi, Awlaw, Inyi, Ugwuoba, Akpugoeze and Oji-River Urban, which hosts the LGA headquarters. It covers about 403 square kilometres and sits on the border with Anambra State (Awka North) to the west and Abia State (Umunneochi) to the south, with Awgu, Udi and Ezeagu as its Enugu State neighbours.
The 2006 census counted 128,741 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 184,800. Oji-River town is known for its colonial-era thermal power station and a mission leprosy settlement founded in the 1930s, still recorded today as Oji River Settlement.
