Williamson County, which is sometimes shortened to “Wilco”, is a county in the U.S. state of Texas.
As of the census in 2020, there were 609,017 people living there.
Georgetown is the county seat.
Robert McAlpin Williamson (1804–1859) was a town leader and a veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto. The county is named after him.
Williamson County is part of the metro area that includes Austin, Round Rock, and Georgetown.
The US Census Bureau says that the county covers 1,134 sq mi (2,940 km2), of which 1,118 sq mi (2,900 km2) is land and 16 sq mi (41 km2) (1.4% of the area) is water.
