Sidney is the county seat.
It was named after the first governor of Kentucky, Isaac Shelby.
The Sidney, OH Micropolitan Statistical Area is part of Shelby County, and it is also part of the Dayton-Springfield-Sidney, OH Combined Statistical Area.
