Red River Parish (French: Paroisse de la Rivière-Rouge) is a parish in Louisiana, United States.
The parish’s population was 7,620 as of the 2020 census, ranking it fourth-least populous in Louisiana. Coushatta is its seat.
It is one of the newer parishes, formed under Reconstruction in 1871 by the state legislature from parts of Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Desoto, and Natchitoches Parishes.
Before the American Civil War, the plantation economy was based on cotton cultivation and was heavily reliant on enslaved African labor.
The parish has a total area of 402 square miles (1,040 km2), of which 389 square miles (1,010 km2) is land and 13 square miles (34 km2) (3.3%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
