Pend Oreille County (/pndre/ POND–RAY) is a county in the northeast part of the U.S. state of Washington.
It is right on the border between the U.S. and Canada.
As of the census in 2020, there were 13,401 people living there.
Newport is the county seat and biggest city.On March 1, 1911, the county was made from Stevens County.
It is the newest county out of the 39 in the state.
The US Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 1,425 square miles (3,690 km2), of which 1,400 square miles (3,600 km2) are land and 25 square miles (65 km2) (1.8%) are water.
