Littlefield is the county seat.
The county was made in 1876, but it didn’t get set up until 1908.
It is named after George A. Lamb, who died in the Battle of San Jacinto.
Bill W. Clayton, who was Speaker of the Texas House from 1975 to 1983, lived in Lamb County. It is also where Waylon Jennings, a country music star, was born.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 1,018 square miles (2,640 km2), of which 1.5 square miles (3.9 km2) (0.2%) are covered by water.
