Jackson Parish is a parish in the northern part of the U.S. state of Louisiana. Its French name is Paroisse de Jackson.
As of the census in 2020, there were 15,031 people living there. Jonesboro is the parish seat.
In 1845, parts of Claiborne, Ouachita, and Union Parishes were put together to make the parish.
In this part of the state in the 20th century, there were a number of small mill towns, like Jonesboro.
The Caney Lake Reservoir is part of the Jimmie Davis State Park, which is east of Jonesboro.
After the Indians were moved out of the area in 1845, the area was named for President Andrew Jackson.
The parish has a total area of 580 square miles (1,500 km2), of which 569 square miles (1,470 km2) are land and 11 square miles (28 km2) (1.9%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
