It is called Paroisse de l’Ibérie in French and Parroquia de Iberia in Spanish.
At the time of the 2020 census, there were 69,929 people living there. The parish seat is New Iberia.
Iberia Parish is part of the bigger area around Lafayette.
The Gulf Coast can be reached by water from the Port of Iberia.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the parish covers a total area of 1,031 square miles (2,670 km2), 574 square miles (1,490 km2) of which are land and 456 square miles (1,180 km2) of which are water, or 44%.
