Echols County is a county in the southeast of the U.S. state of Georgia.

As of the census in 2020, there were 3,697 people living there. Statenville is the county seat.

Statenville is a town that doesn’t have its own government.

Echols and Webster counties are the only ones in Georgia that don’t have any cities or towns that are part of a city or town.

The county was made in 1858, and it was named after Robert Milner Echols (1798–1847).

The Valdosta, GA Metropolitan Statistical Area includes Echols County.

The county has a total area of 421 square miles (1,090 km2), of which 415 square miles (1,070 km2) are land and 5.8 square miles (15 km2) (1.4%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Whitehead Bay, a famous swamp, is in the county.

The Alapaha River sub-basin of the Suwannee River basin is where the western half of Echols County is.

From far east of Statenville to just west of Fargo, the eastern half of the county is in the Upper Suwannee River sub-basin of the Suwannee River basin.
