Early County is a county in the U.S. state of Georgia, located on the state’s southwest border.

The population was 10,854 at the time of the 2020 census.

Blakely is the county seat, and the Early County Courthouse is located there.

On December 15, 1818, it was named after Peter Early, Georgia’s 28th Governor.

The Chattahoochee River, which forms the border with Alabama, runs through the county on the west.

The county has a total area of 516 square miles (1,340 km2), of which 513 square miles (1,330 km2) is land and 3.8 square miles (9.8 km2) (0.7%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
