Cook County is a county in the U.S. state of Georgia’s south central region.

The population was 17,229 at the time of the 2020 census. Adel is the county seat.

The county was established through a constitutional amendment presented on July 30, 1918, and adopted on November 5, 1918.

It is named for former Confederate States Army officer Philip Cook.

Cook County is home to Reed Bingham State Park.

The county has a total area of 233 square miles (600 km2), of which 227 square miles (590 km2) is land and 6.0 square miles (16 km2) (2.6%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.

The western part of Cook County, roughly west of Interstate 75, lies in the Suwannee River basin’s Little River sub-basin.

The eastern part of the county is located in the Suwannee River basin’s Withlacoochee River sub-basin.
