Columbia County is a county in the US state of Georgia.
It is in the east central part of the state.
As of the census in 2020, there were 124,035 people living there.
Appling is where the county government is supposed to be, but Evans is where it really is.
The Augusta-Richmond County, GA-SC Metropolitan Statistical Area has Columbia County as a part of it. The Savannah River runs through it.
A law passed by the Georgia Legislature on December 10, 1790, made Columbia County the 12th county in Georgia. It was made from Richmond County.
The county has a total area of 308 square miles (800 km2), of which 290 square miles (750 km2) are land and 18 square miles (47 km2) (5.7%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The county is in the Piedmont area of the state, which is just above the eastern United States’ fall line.
