It had a population of 3,285 people as of the 2020 census.
Robert Lee is the county seat.
The county was established in 1889 and is named after Richard Coke, Texas’ 15th governor and later a U.S. senator.
Coke County was one of 46 prohibition, or completely dry, counties in Texas until 2005, when it passed legislation allowing the sale of beer and wine.
The county has a total area of 928 square miles (2,400 km2), of which 911 square miles (2,360 km2) are land and 17 square miles (44 km2) (1.8%) are covered by water, according to the United States Census Bureau.[2
