As of the census in 2020, there were 2,547 people living there.
Morton is the county seat.
The county was made in 1876, and in 1924, it was put together.It is named after Robert E. Cochran, who fought to protect the Alamo.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 775 square miles (2,010 km2), of which 775 square miles (2,010 km2) are land and 0.09 square miles (0.23 km2) (0.01%) are water.[6]
The high plains of the Llano Estacado are where Cochran County is located.
The county’s western edge is right on the border between Texas and New Mexico.
