Ashley County is a rural county located in the southern part of Arkansas.

Its economy, culture, and history are all focused on agriculture and timber.

Ashley County was established on November 30, 1848, making it Arkansas’ 52nd county.

It is home to seven different incorporated municipalities, including Hamburg, which serves as the county seat, and Crossett, which is the most populated city.

In addition, the county is home to a large number of unincorporated villages as well as abandoned towns.

The county was named after Chester Ashley, who was a well-known attorney in the Arkansas Territory and served as a senator representing Arkansas in the United States Senate from 1844 to 1848.
