The state of Alaska is divided into 17 boroughs. Bristol Bay Borough is the oldest (founded in 1962), while Petersburg Borough is the newest (established in 2013).
Anchorage is the most populous, with a population of 291,826 people. North Slope Borough has the most land area (230,035 km2), while Skagway has the smallest (1,171 km2).
