Kanke Towns And Villages
Kanke is a Local Government Area in Plateau State, Nigeria, in the state’s south-central farming belt. Its headquarters sits at Kwal. The LGA had 124,268 residents at the 2006 census, projected to about 182,800 by 2022, spread across ten wards: Ampang-East, Amper Chika ‘A’, Amper Chika ‘B’, Amper Seri, Dawaki, Garram, Kabwir Pada, Kabwir/Gyangyang, Langshi and Nemel.
The Angas people form the large majority of the population, with Taroh, Borghum and Siyawa communities elsewhere in the LGA. Farming and cattle rearing support most households.
This list is checked against the INEC 2015 Directory of Polling Units for Kanke LGA, the GRID3 Nigeria settlement gazetteer and GeoNames. Two blocks in the previous list, labelled “Pai District” and “Pal District”, matched no Kanke source but matched Pankshin LGA’s Dok-Pai ward and Kwabzak locality instead, and have been removed.
